GARDEN CITY, NY:  This past weekend, Coach Kieran O’Brien and Coach Mike Draper led the Massapequa Varsity lacrosse team to the Class A New York State Lacrosse Championship.  This is Massapequa’s first-ever state championship.  O’Brien, Massapequa’s defensive coordinator since 1996, serves as the Lizards Elite Director and head coach of the 5th and 6th grade team.  Draper has been an assistant coach at Massapequa since 2005 and head coach of the 3rd and 4th grade team for the Lizards Elite.

We also extend our congratulation to Coach Mike Murtha, offensive coordinator of the Syosset Varsity lacrosse team.  Syosset reached the Nassau County Class A Semifinal where they fell to eventual state champion Massapequa by a score of 8-15.  Murtha will coach alongside Mike Draper as they lead the 3rd and 4th grade Lizards Elite team into the summer season.

The Lizards Elite boasts two teams, 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade, who compete in five tournaments throughout the tri-state area during the spring and summer.  All four coaches for the Lizards Elite have decorated college and coaching careers.
